Rainbow Jell-o

Isn't this the coolest?

You just use blue, yellow, and red Jell-o but it makes a whole rainbow.
I tried this and it actually came out exactly like the picture! It took each layer approximately 2 hours to set, so if you start in the morning you can eat it for your afternoon snack. My 4 year old helped me make it and he absolutely loved it. I used a 9 x 13 pan, but I think next time I might use a slightly smaller one so that each layer is thicker.
Overall a great success!!
I found the directions on this blog. But I've re-typed them below for you.
6 oz. blue Jell-O
6 oz. yellow Jell-O
6 oz. red Jell-O
3 pkgs. Knox unflavored gelatin (they come 4 to a box)
Mix blue Jell-O with one package Knox gelatin. Add 2 cups boiling water and stir until dissolved. Then add 1/2 cup ice and stir until ice is melted. Pour into pan and refrigerate until firm, approx. 2 hours. Repeat the process with each of the other two layers of Jell-O. Enjoy!

  3. You're getting lots of comments! I'm enjoying reading your posts. My cold morphed into a sinus infection. I never knew they were so painful!! I'm on day 4 of 5 days of antibiotics and it's still not gone!!!

P.S. Is it poor etiquette to write just chatty-type things like this in a comment? :-)

  7. I have never really liked Jello but when my ma-in-law makes rainbow Jello I just have to have some! She does hers with a "creamy" layer betwixt each layer (made by adding evaporated milk to the Jello I think) - it is so beautiful!
